Our team is composed entirely of dedicated volunteers who share a passion for supporting missionaries. Meet the individuals who make our mission possible and learn about their unique contributions to our work.
Will A. Byler
President
Will's journey as the founder of Mission Helps in 1988 was driven by his deep-rooted passion for God, people and missions. Growing up as the child of missionary parents in Africa profoundly shaped his worldview and commitment to service. After returning to the United States he pursued an aviation career eventually retiring as a corporate jet captain in 2008 to devote his time entirely to Mission Helps.
Jeremy Reese
Vice President
Jeremy grew up immersed in the mission field as the son of missionary parents who served among Native American communities. This upbringing instilled in him a deep passion for missions and a commitment to serving others. In 2021, he was elected Vice President of Mission Helps, where he plays a key leadership role in the ministry and its mission. His unique experiences and background enrich the organization’s efforts and inspire those around him.
Darlene Byler
Secretary
As a co-founder of Mission Helps, Darlene has been instrumental in shaping the ministry since its inception. She served as Vice President until 2021 and currently holds the position of Secretary, a role she has embraced since the organization’s launch in 1988. In addition to her administrative duties, Darlene is a valued member of the Mission Helps board of directors, where her insights and dedication continue to guide the ministry’s mission and impact.
Ralph Boltz
Treasurer
Ralph holds an associate's degree in accounting and has been a dedicated member of the Mission Helps team since 2004. His passion for missions is evident in his role as Treasurer, where he combines his financial expertise with his commitment to the ministry. His diligent work ensures that Mission Helps operates smoothly and effectively, allowing the organization to focus on its mission and serve those in need.
Dr. Rex McDowell
Director | Public Relations | Missions Ambassador Program
Rex holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and brings a wealth of experience to Mission Helps, with a rich history in missions both domestically and internationally. Over the years, he has served in key roles within the organization, leveraging his expertise to enhance its impact. As a member of the Mission Helps board of directors, Rex continues to contribute his insights and leadership to further the ministry's mission and outreach efforts.
Olive Asbury
Director | Rope Holders Prayer Ministry
Olive and her husband, Verne, are veteran missionaries with nearly twenty years of service in China. Since 2006, Olive has been the Director of the Rope Holder Prayer Ministry, where she has played a vital role in mobilizing prayer support for missionaries. Verne contributes as the co-editor and founding director of Encouragers, an outreach initiative of Rope Holders designed to support and uplift missionaries. Together, they embody a strong commitment to serving those on the front lines of mission work.
Ron Shaffer
Service Manager | Van Fleet
Ron is a skilled veteran mechanic who owns and operates his own auto repair business. Since 2016, he has generously volunteered his expertise to maintain the Mission Helps van fleet, ensuring the vehicles remain in top condition for the ministry's operations. His dedication and skills have made a significant impact, allowing Mission Helps to focus on its mission while benefiting from Ron's reliable support.
Ken and Joyce Ruhl
Managers | Equipment Services
Since 2017, Ken and Joyce Ruhl have been invaluable volunteers at Mission Helps, dedicated to maintaining the organization’s loaner tech equipment and packaging various items as requested by missionaries on deputation. In addition to these essential tasks, they play a key role in dispatching and receiving Mission Helps vans, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Their commitment and service significantly enhance the ministry's ability to support missionaries in their work.

Hannah McDowell
Manager | Medical Services
Hannah is a registered nurse and certified nurse midwife with extensive missionary experience in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Her background in both missions and the medical field equips her with unique insights and a deep understanding of the healthcare needs in mission contexts. Her expertise allows her to effectively address the medical aspects of missions, contributing significantly to the overall success and well-being of those she serves.
Roberta Miller
Manager | Rest & Lodging Services
Roberta has been the manager of hospitality services at Mission Helps since 2007, dedicating her efforts to maintaining an updated directory of lodging options for traveling missionaries across the U.S. With a caring heart, she ensures that missionaries have access to safe and welcoming accommodations, reflecting her commitment to supporting those on the mission field. Her attention to detail and genuine compassion make a significant difference in the lives of those she serves.
Jonathan Lucas
Manager | Construction Services
Since 2014, Jonathan, along with his wife Anna, has been leading construction teams serving worldwide. Before stepping into the role of manager, he actively participated as a team member in numerous mission construction projects, both domestically and internationally. His hands-on experience and leadership skills have greatly enhanced the impact of these projects, helping many missions while fostering teamwork and dedication among volunteers.
Brent and Denisa Stetler
Managers | Tech Services
Denisa, alongside her husband Brent, leads a team of technology professionals dedicated to providing a diverse range of expertise in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. Their efforts empower mission organizations and missionaries to fully harness the potential of technology, enhancing their outreach and effectiveness. With a strong focus on innovation and support, Denisa and Brent help bridge the gap between mission work and digital solutions, making a meaningful impact in the field.
Holly Grenoble
Manager | General Services
Holly is a devoted wife and mother with a strong background in missions and is a veteran of Mission Helps. Since 2012, she has served as the manager of General Services, diligently attending to various mission requests for support. Her experience and commitment to service make her a vital asset to the organization, as she ensures that the needs of missionaries are met effectively and compassionately.
Brian Wilson
Board Member | Administrator – Mission Helps Scholarships
Brian serves as the chairman of the Scholarship Committee, playing a key role in the Mission Helps Scholarship Program, which supports mission students attending Bible colleges. His leadership in this initiative reflects his commitment to nurturing the next generation of missionaries. Additionally, Brian is a member of the Mission Helps board of directors, where he contributes valuable insights and guidance to further the organization’s mission and goals.
Brent and Denisa Stetler
Managers | Media Services
Since 2019, Brent and Denisa have been managing Media Services, dedicating their efforts to mailing hundreds of inspiring and uplifting care packets to missionaries serving in the field. Their commitment to supporting these individuals with thoughtful resources fosters encouragement and connection, making a significant impact on the lives of those working tirelessly in mission work. Their passion for serving others shines through in everything they do.
Craig Dahler
Manager | Counseling Care Ministry
With a Doctor of Ministry degree, Craig joined Mission Helps in 2014 to provide compassionate counseling support for missionaries. His role focuses on offering a caring, understanding, and listening ear to those in the field, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face in their mission work.
Donald Kiscadden
Van Cleaning and Detail
Donald Kiscadden and his family have been dedicated to cleaning and detailing Mission Helps vans since 2014. Their hard work ensures that the vans are in impeccable condition, ready to serve missionaries returning from their fields. This outstanding crew goes above and beyond, making a significant impact on the comfort and readiness of those they serve. Their commitment to excellence is truly inspiring.
Bonnie and Arbutus Williams
Editors, Rope Holders Prayer
As dedicated members of the Rope Holders Prayer Ministry team, Bonnie and Arbutus play a crucial role in their mission. For many years, they have edited the monthly Rope Holders prayer letter, which compiles missonary prayer requests from around the globe and shares them with a wide network of prayer supporters. Their commitment to facilitating prayer connections is making a significant impact on the lives of the many men and women on the front lines of missions.
Heidi Hoffman
Graphics Design
As a talented designer, Heidi is an invaluable member of the Mission Helps team. She uses her creative skills to serve God’s kingdom by designing newsletters and various promotional materials for the ministry. Her work not only enhances communication but also helps effectively share the ministry’s message, inspiring and engaging supporters and beneficiaries alike.
